Usually, a shortcut link to /mimir/data resides on the saturn desktop, with a name like 'data' and looking like a directory/folder.
If it is missing, then it needs to be replaced prior to copying data to the Mimir transfer (XFER) disk.
- On Saturn, click the desktop background to get the top title line to say "Finder File Edit View Go Window Help"
- Click the "Go" item and select "Connect to Server"
- In the pop-up window that appears, look to see if there is already an option to select /mimir/data. If so, select it and click the "Connect" button at bottom right in this pop-up window.
- If /mimir/data does not appear in the list, then enter it in the "Server" text box as "nfs://mimir.lowell.edu/mimir/data" (without the quotes) and click "Connect"
- If either (3) or (4) works, great! You are in business.
- If neither works, then something is wrong with the nfs server on the mimir computer
- log into mimir
- su to root (not a general user ability - this is for DPC or BU/AS/IT only)
- relaunch the nfs server: "/etc/init.d/nfs.server start"
- return to saturn and step 1 above
