Light Path is a view (generally fixed) that shows the status of the primary elements in the light path:

This view is currently displayed on two LOUIs; DeVeny and IGRINS Proxy. At DCT, there are three main elements in the light path common in all instruments:

  • Mirror Cover
    • possible values: Open, Closed, PartiallyOpen
  • Instrument Cover
    • value in inches with +19.86 indicating fully closed and 0.0 indicating fully open
  • Fold Mirror
    • value in mm with ~240 indicating fully extended in the beam.

The color for the label changes depending on whether the element is in a good position for the light to go through to the instrument. Except LMI, all other instruments at DCT rely on a fold mirror being extended so the light is redirected to the desired instrument. The value shown on the Light Path view is relevant to the fold mirror dedicated to the instrument in question. One can look at the Facility Summary view to see which fold mirror is actually deployed.
