We are trying to diagnose a problem with the shutter that is causing the breakers
to trip on panel N. Please read the following note from Rich. If there is a chance
for precipitation then please take pictures of the shutter if you have a phone
with a camera.
Folks, Ted and I have discussed this and we agree that the problem relates to the motor starting relay pulling in inappropriately. It is not clear why that is happening. It could be because of an electrical failure in the motor (shorted windings?) or it could result from mechanical load on the motor. We think it is important to know the exact point at which the dome fails so we are going to ask observers to leave the dome alone when it stops, weather allowing. In that event please file a report to 72status@lowell.edu so we can photograph the shutter, make measurements, and then get the dome closed. I will post notes to that effect at the shutter control switches and the circuit breaker box. Thanks for your cooperation, Rich . _______________________________________________ 72status mailing list 72status@lowell.edu http://mailman/mailman/listinfo/72status |
